Supporting Charities
Introduction
Newcastle Building Society is committed to raising funds for regional charities and organisations, or national charities active or based in our heartland region, that are of particular interest to the staff and members. The charities and organisations we support are carefully chosen so that our donation will make a positive difference to the work they do. Here at the Newcastle our staff and members work together raising funds for all types of worthy causes through a number of fundraising activities.
Community Foundation
Through the Community Foundation the Society donates every year to worthy local charity groups and community organisations. To date the Society has donated over £600,000 via the Community Foundation. Groups that have benefited from our donations include the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade, Stepney Bank Stables, Chester Le Street Rowing Club, Gateshead Crossroads and Cargo Fleet Football Team, Middlesbrough.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Newcastle Building Society is proud to be the largest business contributor to the Macmillan Coffee Morning event in the north east region having raised over £3,500 since 2007.
Operation Christmas Child
Since launching the Operation Christmas Child initiative in 2007 over 100 shoe boxes have been sent to underprivileged children in third world countries such as Serbia.
Red Nose Day
The Society continues to support Red Nose Day by hosting a dress down day and donating all funds raised.
Children In Need
Since 2006 we have raised £5,300 for Children In Need. Various activities have taken place including;
