Newcastle Building Society is one of the leading and strongest mutual building societies in the UK. We have more branches than any other building society in the North East, yet we are still small enough to care deeply about our members, employees and the communities we serve.
As a mutual organisation, our profits are invested back into the business and not paid out in the form of dividends to a limited number of shareholders. We are committed to the principles of mutuality, which means putting you, the customer, first.
We were the first building society to be awarded Investor in People (IIP) status in 1992 in recognition of our commitment to staff development and our ability to provide a balanced training programme for every member of staff. In 2005 and again in 2008 we became one of the first organisations to obtain IIP accreditation under the new and more demanding standards.
